Small Bathroom Remodeling Pictures Before And After The Makeover

Taking pictures of your small bathroom remodel is such fun

If you have ever enjoyed watching a time-lapse video of something being built then you will understand what I mean when I say that taking pictures of your bathroom-remodeling project as it develops can be a lot of fun.

With time-lapse video photography you set up a camera in a fixed position and take one frame or picture every few minutes or every few hours. This condenses the actions of several days, weeks or months into a short video lasting just a few minutes. It can be fascinating and often very funny to watch the progress super fast like this.

For most of us it isn’t possible to set up a video camera in one spot like this for our bathroom renovations. You probably don’t have the space to set it up and leave it running and if you did then your tripod would get knocked and moved by your workers. It would be impossible to do this in a very small bathroom. I expect that you are probably busy and don’t have the time to create something like this anyway.

The next best thing to time-lapse video is still photography taken of your bathroom remodel during the course of the work. Taking a lot of still pictures before, after and every day during your bathroom-remodeling project can be organised later into a very enjoyable bathroom makeover picture gallery.

I’ve put some pictures of before and after the remodeling of my own bathroom for you to see on the page Before and After Bathroom Remodeling Pictures

Why you should use a digital camera on your small bathroom makeover

Most professional photographers will tell you that a cheap 35mm conventional film camera will give you superior images and allow you to take a lot of pictures very quickly. Well you don’t need super high quality images unless you’re going to publish your photos in a glossy bathroom magazine and you’ll have plenty of time to take your pictures.

If all you have is a film camera then by all means use it to photograph your bathroom renovations but if you have access to a digital camera then you will be able to do much better. Most modern digital cameras are capable of taking and storing hundreds if not thousands of digital images of your bathroom and if you fill it’s memory then just download the pictures onto your PC and start again.

Tip: If you are lucky enough to own a multi-megapixel digital camera then turn down the setting to a resolution between 2 to 3 megapixels. This will allow you to get the most pictures into its memory and still give you great quality images of your bathroom. I often use a 1.8 megapixel camera and sometimes I even use my 1.3 megapixel camera phone.

Why you should take many pictures of your ceramic renovation dream

This is one of those activities where quantity is more important than quality. Of course you want photos of your bathroom remodel to be great to look at but you don’t need to be overly fussy about it. If you take hundreds of photos then some of them are going to be great to look at.

Now organise your bathroom remodeling picture gallery

When your bathroom remodel is complete you can take the final set of photographs and organise them into an album on your PC. Sort your images into date order so that you can see exactly how much progress was made on any given day. You’ll have loads of fun organising them and showing them to your friends.

Prosperity Scriptures – What Does the Bible Say About Prosperity?

The widespread corruption and injustice that exist in today’s society can certainly make one think that “money is the root of all evil.” It wouldn’t surprise me if many believe this adage. I, on the other hand, don’t. I know that money isn’t really everything in a person’s life but material wealth isn’t so bad. After all, many of the basic necessities in life can only be obtained through money. Besides, God wants man to prosper and be successful and prosperity includes material wealth. How do I know this? The following prosperity scriptures prove my point:

o Genesis 13: 2, 3. In Genesis, God promised to bless man and make a great nation for him. He also vowed to curse those who curse man and to bless all families.

o Deuteronomy 8:18. In this scripture, remembrance of the God who gives man the power to get wealth is emphasized. Wealth here is considered as a means to establish God’s covenant.

o 1 Chronicles 4:10. This part of the bible tells us of Jabez’s plea for God to bless him with abundance and how God granted his request.

o Matthew 7:7-8. This scripture encourages us to knock on heaven’s door and ask for God’s blessing because God gives to those who ask.

o 3 John 1:2. In the New Testament, John tells us of how the Father wishes, above all, for man to prosper and to be in health so that his soul may also prosper.

See? The Bible says that God desires for us to prosper materially and that He wants us to succeed. These prosperity scriptures imply that God, because He is our Loving Father, would never want us, His people, to be in peril. Like any father, God only wants the best for His children. But, even if prosperity is indicated in the aforementioned prosperity scriptures, we are still warned that prosperity is not limited to what’s financially tangible. Prosperity is encompassed by many things – physical, spiritual, mental, social and of course, financial. To relate prosperity to money alone is very narrow-minded. Moreover, these prosperity scriptures also clarify that though God wants His people to prosper, He only promises its occurrence if we obey His commandments and if we trust Him. He also reminds us that in our search for prosperity, we have to remember to not become greedy and to be contented with what is ours because we are always given what is due us.

Review of Benchmark Fiberglass Entry Doors by Therma-Tru

Mirror Door

Doors are not made equal. Exterior doors, such as the front door, are the most exposed to climate change and repeated use. Fiberglass is now a preferred surface material for doors because it does not rot, warp or crack like wood, nor does it rust or dent like steel. Traditional doors are a throwback to the time of exquisite handcrafting and craftsmanship but this artistry would be wasted on wood surfaces that would soon fracture and crumble too early. Benchmark fiberglass entry doors are now some of the most popular for new homes and replacement doors for old homes that once had wooden doors like mahogany or oak. These products are backed by the Therma-Tru name, pioneers in fiberglass doors, and exclusive distribution by Lowe’s stores. As wood doors are sliding from staple to next best, fiberglass doors are gaining interest. Architects and remodelers want to know how to find the right ones and make the most of those.

Benchmark fiberglass entry doors are increasingly known for achieving a balance between design and price. They are good-looking but affordable, an attractive possibility to savvy builders and homeowners who may be on a budget. Their classy designs mirror handsome doors of old but clean lines harmonize with unexpected elements like glass and metal. At the same time, their reasonable prices compete with real hardwood doors that reigned over the market with an iron hand in the past. The real test is in weathering and usage. If your location is troubled with fluctuating outdoor conditions, or if it is a high-traffic area requiring a new door, you should have a realistic budget with a ceiling for a top-of-the-line product. For a low-traffic area, especially inside the home, you may opt for something charming and mid-priced.

The promise of a long-lasting, energy-saving product that offers peace of mind adds to the appeal of Benchmark doors. They feature a “leak protection pad” that has been designed like a special corner pocket to block air and moisture where it is most expected to penetrate. Dual bulbs and dual fins make a heavy-duty door bottom sweep that further seals up against air and water infiltration. These enhance the quality of energy efficiency attached to fiberglass, which provides three to five times more insulation and lets natural light inside homes. The door sill has been developed to resist rotting and corrosion, with a cap using non-wood composite material and adjustable hardware using stainless steel. Greater resistance to rotting and insect damage can be had with the optional jamb, primed and ready for painting. An optional three-point locking system promises increased security. It has also been constructed from stainless steel and is resistant to corrosion.

Therma-Tru Doors, which owns the Benchmark by Therma-Tru brand, specializes in doors made from fiberglass rather than steel, composite material or wood, specifically, pre-hung entry doors and door systems. It manufactured the first fiberglass entry doors more than 25 years ago. With Benchmark fiberglass entry doors, the company is working on establishing an expertise in other aspects of the door business on a par with veteran manufacturers such as Masonite, Milgard and Feather River. An order delivery system and aftersales service are examples of those other aspects that have great impact on buyers. As Benchmark entry doors are pre-hung, you can choose do-it-yourself installation or professional installation, either by exclusive carriers Lowe’s or a company you have contracted. Unless you are skilled, installing a door yourself would most likely be troublesome. If the door area must adjust to a particular architecture, design or age of the house, you should probably obtain a professional installation service on your own.

Top Ten Things to Do in Spring

Mirror Door

It must be serendipity that I am in currently in the janitorial industry and that I enjoy cleaning. I use my skills as a sales and marketing director to sell my ritual of welcoming spring.

While some people enjoy lounging, daydreaming or reading when the days are still cool but sunny I enjoy tying up loose ends and starting with a “clean” slate. So what if others do not share my enthusiastic spring dance in honor of mother-nature! Why do they insist on their own dance and will not applaud my magnificent performance? Here are my favorite things to do in spring:

1. Spring clean & de-clutter home & office:

Make a caddy of your basic tools. I use multi-purpose cleaner, microfiber cloths, lamb’s wool extension duster, furniture polish, disinfectant spray, trash bag and a laundry basket to put items I am removing from the room. If your ceilings are high you may need a small step ladder. I also have a broom to get behind furniture I can’t move and for carpet edges and corners. A vacuum with attachments is also very handy. Place your equipment outside the entrance of the room you are cleaning. Give each room a thorough, top to bottom cleaning. This is the perfect time to launder the curtains and bedding. If you are up to the challenge you can also flip furniture cushions, mattresses and rearrange the furniture. The best approach I have found is to start each room at the entrance door and circle the room. Start your high dusting, touching all surfaces on the walls such as picture frames, shelves, etc. If the curtains are not going to be taken down, remove the dust on the tops & fabric folds. Cobwebs can get anywhere, including the flat walls. Get under and behind the furniture with the duster and/or broom. Dust inside the window frame. Wash the windows. Use a microfiber with just a mist of all-purpose cleaner and dust the surfaces you can reach. The last thing I do is use my disinfectant spray and vacuum.

2. Get rid of clothes not worn:

I bring storage containers or boxes and kitchen trash bags and a black marker. First go through the shelved clothing, second the clothes that are hanging and third clothes that are in drawers. Make a pile on the floor of clothes that should be place in the garbage. Box up the seasonal things you are going to keep. Things you are giving away put into the trash bags. Use the marker and put your name and season of clothes on the boxes. Label the bags with the person’s name you are giving them to, yard sale or Goodwill. Store away the seasonal boxed clothes, put the give-away clothes in your garage or auto so you will not forget to take them away.

3. Clean yard, porches & garage:

All of these are good for family team work, but this one especially is. The garage needs and occasional de-clutter and cleaning. You will need a broom, plenty of boxes or plastic containers, a black marker and maybe some white mailing labels to write on. If you have a large major crisis in there you may want to copy the show “Clean Sweep” and get out three tarps on the drive or yard. Tarp number one is for things to keep, tarp number two is for giving away or yard sale, tarp three is trash. When you have everything out that you can, you may now dust, sweep and/or pressure wash. Organize tools by their use and season. Keep the yard tools together, garden tools and the basic repair tools together, etc. The sports equipment and toys are also organized and the off season sports equipment and toys should be boxed and put up. Tarp number one “things to keep” will be boxed up and labeled and neatly put back into the garage. Tarp number two “things to give away or yard sale” should be boxed, bagged or price tagged for yard sale. Label the give-away or yard sale items and neatly put back into the garage. Tarp number three “trash” items need to be bagged if they can fit into garbage receptacle or hauled to the dump if necessary. Now the garage is neat and clean!

4. Thoroughly detail autos:

Have a contest with someone if you are detailing two autos! Guard yourself from the sun. Tools needed are a vacuum with attachments, trash bag, towels, paper towels, 2 microfiber cloths and a large terry cloth, two old large beach towels, a long handled car wash broom if you have one, and a stiff brush for the wheels & tires and bucket & sponge. I also fix a small caddy with window cleaner, Mr. Clean, some Q-Tips, Armor-all, Febreze, car wash, wax with an applicator or soft cloth and tire “black” spray. Start on the inside and fill up your trash bag with any garbage in the auto. Look under seats and in the cracks of the seats. Pick up items that will hurt your vacuum. Take out all the carpets and lay them down to vacuum. Then fill a bucket with about a gallon of water and an ounce of Mr. Clean. Use this water first to scrub the seats with a very damp cloth, it may remove some stains and it smells good. Then wash the dash, wheel, seat dividers and inside the doors. Constantly clean your cloth in the bucket. Dip Q-tips in the water and use to get the dash cracks, corners and areas the cloth couldn’t get into. Spray Armor-All on a microfiber cloth and wipe down the dash and hard smooth surfaces made from similar material to shine up and make like new. When finished put that cloth away from the others so you will not use it again. Time for the inside windows! I use a window cleaner and paper towels to wash all the inside windows, then I go back over them with a microfiber cloth and it really polishes good. The last thing I do is vacuum the carpet. Be sure to adjust the seats forward and backward to get all areas. Last I give the fabric and carpet a spray of Febreze, carefully avoiding my windows. Vacuum the carpets that you took out. If you want to organize the trunk and vacuum, this is a good time. Now get the windows up and shut the doors. Empty your bucket and refill with plenty of water and a little carwash. Hose down the entire auto and wash by sections. Immediately rinse off each section as you go around the auto. When you think you are done walk around the auto for any touch-ups. Now use your stiff brush and scrub the wheels and tires a few times, then rinse. Hose off the carpets you removed and let air dry. Use a beach towel to dry off all areas of the auto. After drying and no water spots it is time to wax. My favorite auto wax is the new spray on wipe off type, but if you are using the paste wax it is done the same way. Put wax on a section at a time, and then remove it with the second beach towel. Let the paste wax dry before buffing off. Again check all around the auto for any areas that need touched up. After waxing I wash the windows with paper towels and then polish with the microfiber cloth. Your wheels and tires should be dry by now so you can spray your “black” spray on them. Now that is a sparkling beauty!

5. Get planting beds & flower containers ready:

You can start seedlings indoors or wait for the nursery centers to stock your favorite plants. Guard yourself from the sun. Tools you may want for the large planting beds are a tiller (if large area) rake, shovel, garden claw, landscape fabric or plastic, gloves, trash bag potting soil (my favorite is Miracle Grow with the water holding material). First pull all weeds and place in trash bag. Rake the surface of leaves, old mulch and debris, put in trash bag or compost bin. Use shovel or garden claw to turn the soil (till if large area) and mix in your potting soil. After the area is complete, cover with the landscape fabric or plastic. When you are ready to plant, cut holes in the landscape fabric or plastic and place plant where you want. To finalize your flower gardens, cover the fabric or plastic with mulch or rocks. For the flower containers, if they have previously been used they must be washed and let air dry. When the weather is warm enough you can plant. Place some large stones or broken pottery pieces in the bottom for drainage. Fill pots ¾ of the way full. Decide where to place your plants and surround them with potting soil and firmly press down. Give a good drink of water. Check on weekly to remove dead material and water if needed.

6. Start seedlings indoors:

Pick a few seeds you want to start, veggies, herbs, flowers (Burpee is my favorite brand). You can use a sun lamp, although I never have. Just don’t start too early or they will grow too large before you can transplant. The easiest way is to get the jiffy pots ready for water and seeds. You can also use a rectangle receptacle like a cake pan and fill with potting soil and sprinkle on the seeds and water. Pour off excess water. Save your seed envelopes to mark your plants or you won’t remember what you are growing and where. When the weather is warm enough and all chances of freezing are over they can be transplanted either in a prepared bed or container.

7. Write down new things to do in the summer and fall:

I like to write down things I haven’t done in a while, new things or things to do with particular friends and family; go to museum with mother; watch movie with Linda. Learn how to rollerblade, take a painting class, run a marathon, go boating and so forth. I have things to do indoors for rain and outdoors for sunshine. Keep your list next to your calendar and when you want something to do check one off. Make arrangements a week or so ahead so you will have a full social calendar.

8. Begin a customized fitness plan:

First schedule a check up with your family doctor and make sure you are okay to become more active. Define what you want to accomplish and a date to accomplish this by. If you have more than one goal, do this for every goal. Example: I want to lose 30 pounds by August. Next step is to plan out how you will accomplish this. Example: I will clean out my kitchen and replace with healthy low calorie foods. I will walk one mile every day. I will lift weights thirty minutes every other day and so on. Keep positive affirmations and motivational post-its on your bathroom mirror and refrigerator.

9. Get a new hair cut, hair style or color:

Be browsing the magazine for cuts and color you like to get an idea or two. Visit your favorite hair salon or one that a friend refers. Ask the stylist to recommend a cut and or color for your complexion, lifestyle and budget. Ask questions regarding maintenance before you decide. Your cut must be quick and easy to maintain if you lifestyle is very busy. If you are young you can easily go more dramatic and bold. If you are more mature or have a career you may want to stick with some classic styles and color, but different than you usually get. This is a great ego boost and when you are confident and happy, it will rub off on everyone around you.

10. Take a long walk, hike or bike ride in a scenic area:

This is a great family outing, or couples and friends outing. Bring your dog if you can. If you have a favorite park or recreation area, plan a day and a picnic for this event. This could ba a great way to scout out a camping area. Take the basics, sandwiches, fruit and water. Dress for the occasion and don’t forget sun protection. Bring a rain jacket or wind breaker in case the weather suddenly changes. Let someone know where you are going and bring a cell phone. Bring a Frisbee or football to mix things up. Just enjoy the time to spend with good company and appreciate the beautiful earth.

With a “clean” slate completed there is still ample time to soak up all the crisp air and sunshine. I feel I have accomplished something great and it makes me feel terrific about the next great season!

How to Read Body Language Attraction

When it comes to picking up on love interests, sometimes the other sex just doesn’t get it. Don’t get frustrated, just brush up on some simple and effective sexy body language tricks. Everyone uses body language all the time. We can use it to say we’re happy, confused, put off, or interested! But knowing what your body is saying is extra important when it comes to love interests. These body language pointers will whip your unspoken communication skills into shape. I’ll teach you how to grab the attention of anyone without even opening your mouth.

Occasionally licking your lips is a great way to draw attention to that pretty pucker. You should use this very infrequently but licking your lips once in a while draws attention to one of your sexiest body parts and shows that you’re interested.

Sync up with your love interest. Being physically in sync with someone signals that you’re mentally in sync with them too. Mimic some of their movements like sipping your drink or leaning in when they do. Don’t overdo this one. You’re not supposed to be a literal mirror, you’re just trying to suggest to their subconscious that the two of you are in tune. Moving toward someone is another sign you’re into them. Touching a love interest on the arm or leaning into them demonstrates your desire to be closer to them mentally and physically.

Make smoldering eye contact. Staring down that tantalizing stranger lets them know you’re attracted. But this shouldn’t be a second grade staring contest. Just give them the look long enough for them to notice your into them. The sexy stare works close up as well. If you two are already in conversation, make sure they know they have your full attention. You don’t have to stare them down but stop yourself from looking around the room or checking the door every time it opens. It’s a great way to show them you’re interested in them and what they’re saying.

Flirtatious hair flips quickly get a man’s attention. Flipping your hair away from your face or tossing it around once in a while is a great way to get flirtatious attention. Another great trick is to slightly tilt your head when you catch his eye. Giving them this look shows your intrigued and interested.

Point your body in their direction. Direct your shoulders at the person you’re interested in. When your seated and crossing your legs, pointing your knee at them sends the same signal. It says “I’m interested in you and you’ve got my attention”.

Touch or stroke an object in front of you. Make sure you keep this understated. Slightly stroking your wine glass or touching your leg while seated is a signal that you’d like to be touching the person in front of you.

Want to show you’re interested in someone? Let your body say it all. Body language can get things going with someone you just met or transform an acquaintance into a love interest. Using body language lets you say you’re interested without you having to say anything at all.

Planning Your Bathroom Tile Design, Pattern & Installation

If you are planning to tile a bathroom by yourself, this article will help you plan your bathroom tiling installation in the best and cost effective way as well as giving you some tile design ideas. We will guide through your new bathroom tile design and installation planning step by step.

Attention – Note that planning your tiling installation properly is the most important step for smooth, easy going and problem free bathroom tile installation.

Remember a DIY bathroom tiling installation isn’t a quick job, so don’t miss the point and plan it right. All the time spent planning your tiling installation will save you money and headaches.

You have to plan your bathroom-tiling project carefully; choose the tile design and tile patterns, what materials you need and which tools you require.

Choose your Bathroom Tile design & Tile patterns

The tile patterns that you can create with different tiles are limited only by your own Tile design ideas. A large variety of standard tile designs, ideas and tile patterns are available. Some tile manufacturers may make special custom tile designs for you.

Choosing the tile design is obviously the first thing you need to do, with out deciding this you can not start planning your bathroom tile installation.

You can find a few basic bathroom tile design ideas & tile patterns, check it out.

For some Inspiration you can check Google pictures for some Bathroom Tile design ideas, there are over a million bathroom pictures here.

Tile suitability – Tiles are made in porous and non-porous varieties. When planning a bathroom tile installation, you should choose the non-porous ceramic tiles.

If your bathroom is small and the tiles have designs on them, you may have to go for smaller sized tiles as they have smaller designs. Too large tile designs may not suit small bathrooms so choose a smaller tile design for smaller bathrooms.

If you go for a plain color, the size isn’t that important, however try to follow the rule above anyway.

A good tile design idea is to choose contrasting colors for the floor tiles and wall tiles. Then have a skirting line the same color as the floor tile.

Another tile design idea is changing color at chest level, which will change the look of your bathroom.

Try to choose bathroom accessories that compliment the color of the walls.

Materials – How much will you need? – To calculate the quantity of materials that you need, you must take precise measurements of the total area that you wish to tile.

From the total area and the size of each tile, you can calculate the number of tiles required (you must know the size of the tiles you have chosen).

You must also remember to take into account the gaps between tiles when calculating the number of tiles needed, so make sure you include spacers appropriate to the tile size chosen.

If this equation becomes a little complicated, you can always use the table “Calculating your Tile needs” (link here) on this page.

When calculating consider more than half a tile as a full tile and less than a half tile as a half tile. If you have chosen a multicolored bathroom, calculate each color separately and note down the tile requirements.

Ordering tiles – Order the tiles on the basis of the measurements taken. Note that tiles are packed in boxes and the supplier is unlikely to sell tiles individually.

Remember to order extra tiles as you can be sure that some tiles will break during installation (even the best professional breaks tiles). In addition some of these extra tiles could be used in the future if any tiles need replacing. This is not only good but an advisable practice.

Always order additional tiles since the tiles you have ordered may not be available in future, and if you require replacement tiles, you will have difficulty finding a match.

Best tools for a good job – Make sure you choose the right tool for the job. It’ll make the job easier and safer too. You probably have a basic toolbox however for tiling installation you need special tiling tools.

Some of them are expensive but don’t waste your money buying professional tools that you won’t use enough to pay for themselves. Instead hire them. For some $$ you can have the best tools for a few days. And if you’ve done your planning properly you’ll only need them for a few hours.

Remember, that planning your tiling installation properly is the most important step for smooth, easy going and problem free bathroom tile installation.

I hope it’s been useful, happy tiling!

Hypnotize Yourself Right Now – 10 Steps To Hypnotize Yourself Today

I want to show you a really interesting technique to hypnotize yourself. It is known as the Betty Erickson technique as she devised it to hypnotize yourself. Betty’s husband Milton Erickson is someone I have referred to on several occasions in my work as a renowned hynotherapist and psychiatrist and someone whose work seems to hypnotize me all the time. This technique to hypnotize yourself is entirely attributed to her.

Hypnotize Yourself Betty Erickson Method:

This method to hypnotize yourself is based on the following premises and ideologies. While there are a number of counter-examples to these notions, they will be of value in understanding and utilizing this method to hypnotize yourself.

We think our thoughts in pictures, sounds and feelings.

When we think in pictures we refer to the external things we see and the internal images that we create. This includes remembered images (“What does your bedroom look like?”), constructed images (“What would it look like if it were redecorated?”), as well as the actual, real things we see about us.

When we think in sounds these are the things we hear and the internal sounds that we create. This includes remembered words or sounds (“Think of your favourite pop song”), imagined words or sounds (“Imagine that song being sung by someone else”), and also includes your internal dialogue as well as all of the real, actual, live sounds around us.

Thirdly, are the things we feel. These can be actual physical sensations or imagined ones. Can you imagine being at the seaside and paddling in the cool sea?

Most of us use one of these ways of thinking more than the others; though we each use all three of them. Since this is usually the case, an individual who “thinks” in images wouldn’t hypnotize themselves the best simply by visualising.

Focused Attention:

Stereotypical images of hypnotists holding watches or other fixation devices for clients to stare at are the result of much misunderstanding about hypnosis. I for one have long ago banished my velveteen smoking jacket and watch on a chain for more modern methods of hypnotic induction! The experience of hypnosis is typically an inwardly focused one in which we move away from the environment around us and turn our attention inward. This technique to hypnotize yourself is doing that even more.

Hypnotize Yourself Technique:

Step 1: Find a comfortable position and get your self relaxed and settled. Get into a position that you will be able to maintain easily for the time you are going to hypnotize yourself. It can be sitting or lying down, though sitting is recommended to prevent you from falling asleep. Get yourself centred, just looking in front of you and breathing slowly and easily. Let yourself relax.

Step 2: Think about the length of time that you intend to spend in this state and make a statement to yourself about it such as “I am going hypnotize myself for 20 minutes … ” (or however long you want) You will be delighted to discover how well you “internal clock” can keep track of the time for you.

Step 3: What would you like to get out of this? Make a statement to yourself about the reason you want to hypnotize yourself. In this process, you allow your unconscious mind to work on an issue rather than giving suggestions throughout, (that is another technique) so our purpose statement should reflect that fact. Here’s how I recommend you phrase it to yourself : ” I am going to hypnotize myself for the purpose of allowing my unconscious mind to make the adjustments that are appropriate to assist me in _____________.”

Filling in the blank with what you want to achieve such as “developing more confidence in social situations.” The actual words aren’t nearly as important as the fact your statement acknowledges that you are turning this process over to your unconscious mind.

Step 4: Looking in front of you, notice three things, one at a time, that you see. Go slowly, pausing for a moment on each. It is preferable that they be small things, such as a spot on the wall, a doorknob, the corner of a picture frame, etc. Some people like to name the items as they look at them – “I see the hinge on the door frame”.

Step 5: Now turn your attention to your auditory channel and notice, one by one, three things that you hear. (You will notice that this allows you to incorporate sounds that occur in the environment rather than being distracted by them.)

Step 6: Next, attend to your feelings and notice three sensations that you can feel right now. Again, go slowly from one to the next. It is useful to use sensations that usually are outside of your awareness, such as the weight of your glasses, the feeling of your wrist watch, the texture of your shirt on your body, etc.

Step 7: Continue the process using two Visuals, then two auditories and then two kinaesthetics. Then, in the same manner, continue (slowly) with one of each.

You have now completed the “external” portion of the process to hypnotize yourself. Now it’s time to begin the “internal” part.

Step 8: Now close your eyes. Now, bring an image into your mind. Don’t work too hard at this; this is fun, remember? You can construct an image or simply take what comes. It may be a point of light, it may be a beautiful beach, or it could be your car or an apple. I shall not scare you with the ideas that randomly pop into my mind. If something comes to you, just use it. If nothing comes, feel free to put something in your mind.

Step 9: Pause and let a sound come into your awareness or generate one and name it. Although this is technically the internal part, if you should hear a sound outside or in the room with you, it is OK to use that. Remember that the idea is to incorporate things that you experience rather than being distracted by them. Typically, in the absence of environmental sounds; I often imagine hearing whooping hallelujahs from a gospel choir; don’t ask me why, that just happens in my mind.

Step 10: Become aware of a feeling and name it. It is preferable to do this internally – use your imagination. (I feel the warmth of the sun on my face) However, as with the auditory, if you actually have a physical sensation that gets your attention, use that.

Repeat the process with two images, then two sounds, then two feelings. Repeat the cycle once again using three images, three sounds, and three feelings.

Then to complete the process, open your eyes when your alloted time is up – It is not unusual to feel a little bit “spaced out” or wander off somewhat. At first some people think that they have fallen asleep. But generally you will find yourself coming back automatically at the end of the allotted time that you set before you chose to hypnotize yourself. Trust that you weren’t sleeping and that your unconscious mind was doing what you asked of it.

Many people don’t get all the way through the process. That’s perfectly all right. If you should complete the process before the time has ended, just continue with 4 images, sounds, feelings, then 5 and so on. It is a simple way of just getting you acquainted with how to hypnotize yourself.

Build a Color Scheme For Your Log Cabin Decorating

Mirror Door

Turn your log house into a cozy cabin in the pines or lake lodge with colors that balance your decor. There is inherently a strong fixed design component of cabins: wood. More than 50% of your design scheme is a permanent color with depth and texture. The wood itself provides one hue you will have to work with – whether it’s oak, cherry stain, grey weathered or whatever. This is what makes decorating a cabin a bit more challenging than a traditional home. Wood also adds richness and atmosphere that make cabins so desirable in the first place so work with it, don’t fight it.

Another factor in decorating a cabin is that most cabins have an open floor plan with no delineation of rooms. Allocating color throughout each room creatively and stylishly will define each space without closing off the openness. A few channels for distributing color in these areas are with flooring, upholstery, wall hangings and throw blankets. You want to avoid having just one hue for all the components of your log home. Here is a quick look at color schemes, the three parts of the scheme, and some ideas on how to use them creatively in your log cabin decorating.

The three types of color that make up a color scheme are general, secondary and accent. They should work together harmoniously and serve a specific purpose in the scheme. Here is a quick look at their purpose and how to use them together.

1. General Color: This is the canvas or backdrop for your decor. It is most often a warm or cool neutral tone. The key here is neutral. General color is not meant to stand out or punch up a room and it should work with walls and floors. This will most likely be the lightest, softest color of your color scheme. Keep in mind that the general color should be able to be taken a shade or two darker or lighter to serve as a secondary color as well. Your general color is the string that pulls the whole space together.

* General color goes:

A) On Interior walls not meant to be accent walls or focal points

B) Largest furniture pieces such as sofas

C) Window treatments

D) Vertical cabinetry

E) Referenced in area rugs

2. Secondary Color: Secondary colors bring depth and shading to your canvas (general color). Use secondary colors to emphasize and define by using deeper and richer shades than the general colors. They don’t have to be in the same color family as the general color either. They can be complementary (two colors on opposite sides of the color wheel) or adjacent colors (next to each other on the color wheel). These colors are formed by mixing one primary and one secondary color.

*Secondary color goes:

A) Medium sized furniture such as chairs

B) Horizontal counters and surfaces such as supplemental flooring

C) Accent walls, decorative fireplace surrounds

D) Referenced in area rugs

3. Accent Colors: These are the most intense or saturated colors. Perfect for punching up your scheme and adding life to your space. Accent colors can be used from room to room to tie the spaces together. Use these intense colors as intended, as accents and in small doses as they can be overwhelming. Accent colors can be changed from season to season and trend to trend.

* Accent color goes:

A) Small furniture such as upholstery on kitchen stools and ottomans

B) Lamps, vases, artwork and candles

C) Throw pillows and throw blankets

D) Kitchen appliances, stemware and flatware

E) The front door

F) Referenced in area rugs

In the simplest of terms, for a log cabin or country cabin home, wood is the main component for your color scheme. General color is the lightest and used on the largest decor. Secondary is the medium color used on medium sized decor. Accent colors are the deepest or richest colors, used on smaller decor and accent pieces easily changeable from season to season. Decorating your cabin will be fun and easy using these simple color tips.
